Description

(a) Gold chalice, engraved on the cup "Calicem Salutaris Accipiam," on the stem "Corpus Christi Salva Me," and on the base "Et Nomen Domini Invocabo," with images of Christ and saints. Engraved on the bottom of the base: "Rev. Charles Patrick Bowling From His Parents June 2, 1928." Stamped "Made in France."

(b) Gold paten, engraved on bottom with an A and O (Alpha and Omega) flanking a P turned into a cross.

Contained in box lined with brown velvet and pink satin, and covered on the outside with black leather. Information on card found in box: "Chalice belonged to Father Charles Patrick Bowling, brother of Sisters Bernadette Bowling SL, Mary Martin Bowling SL, Mary Regis Bowling SL and Charlesine OSU, ordained June 2, 1928 – said one of his first Masses at Loretto, about June 6, 1928. Died February 11, 1980 at Bowling Green KY, buried at St. Catherine, New Haven, Feb. 13, 1980" (see object file).
