Description
Print of “No Greater Love." This is a copy of the original painted by Sr. M. Norbert Parsoneault, director of the art department at Loretto Heights College 1933-1959. It depicts a novice (white veil), a postulant (veil with hair showing), and a professed sister (black veil) and Jesus crucified, done in cubistic form. Printed on the card with this picture: “In contemplating their Crucified Lord, the postulant expresses her eagerness to live for One Who died for her; the novice is making her daily oblation in union with Christ in the Mass; and the professed religious is humbly grateful that she can cooperate with her Redeemer in the work of saving souls.” Sr. Mary Norbert (1891-1959) became well known as a painter of both religious and secular subjects. Many of Sister’s works of art can be found in the churches and chapels of Denver and throughout the state.
