Description

Metal standing crucifix; base decorated with floral pattern, engraved flower images on the sides, and an image in relief of a ram lying on a cross. Metal corpus and "INRI" sign. This crucifix was brought from Europe by Father Nerinckx in 1817 to give to Bishop Flaget for the Cathedral in Bardstown, KY. When the Bardstown Cathedral was renovated in 1924, the crucifix was returned to Loretto and kept in the church vestry until 1963.
