Description
Pillowcase, used by Sr. M. Theodosia Kelly, made of linen woven by our Sisters at Calvary, KY. Sr. Theodosia Kelly, SL (1817-1904), one of four blood sisters to enter Loretto, was one of the founders of Loretto Academy at Florissant, MO, in 1847. In her later years she wrote a detailed memoir of early Loretto history. This piece was donated to the Archives in 1932 by Sr. Gabriel Berry (1867-1953), who was one of the eight Lorettines sent to nurse Spanish Influenza patients at the mining camps of eastern Kentucky in 1918. Written in script on pinked cloth: "Sisters Dormitory Calvary Convent Feb. 15, 1884."
