Crucifix, wood cross with metal corpus. The museum label says the corpus was saved from the 1895 fire at St. Ann’s Academy, St. Paul, KS. Note the skull and crossbones at the foot of the cross.
The Sisters of Loretto had served at Osage Mission and later at St. Ann’s until the fire destroyed the building and there were insufficient funds to rebuild.
