Description

Color photograph of Elizabeth Sandoval, a Navajo woman, sitting with a cane in front of her hogan. Note on back: "The woman in the photograph is Elizabeth Sandoval from Baca New Mexico (the tip of the Navajo reservation). I call her Star Woman because of the star scratched in the Hogan above her head. / When Sister Angela Bianca [Bianco] worked on the Navajo reservation she helped deliver water from the Mission to Helen's family. Later Helen was a participant in the meals on wheels program that Angela was involved in. Helen lived in a family hogan which was part of a cluster of hogans. The photograph was taken by Sister Marie L Ego when she visited Angela. It was taken circa 1981-82."
