White brim worn under black habit veil from 1953, from Loretto Motherhouse. The veil was pinned to the brim and held to the head by a metal band.

Postulant cap, starched white cape worn in last half of the 19th century. This was the cap that was starched and fluted with the fluting iron to make ruffles like a French maid’s hat.
