Satin or silk reversible stole; one side has printed fabric with dotted and leaf-like patterns in brown and shades of pink, with pale yellow edges, and square crosses in brown thread on ends; the other side is pale yellow or off-white fabric with multicolored striped fabric square crosses on ends. This stole belonged to Reverend Athanasius Aud, chaplain at Calvary Convent.
In his earlier years Rev. Aud was said to have traveled 100,000 miles on horseback in Kentucky and Tennessee ministering to the people. He was born February 21, 1803, near Fairfield, KY. In 1850 Rev. A.A. Aud was attacked by serious illness due to unavoidable exposure. He was sent to Calvary to say Mass for the Sisters and to help the pastor. He stayed in this position until the death of Rev. D.A. Deparcq in 1864, when he became pastor of Holy Mary's and chaplain of Calvary Convent.
