Description

Gremiale or ceremonial apron, raised gold- and silver-colored embroidery of a dove surrounded by sun rays and vines, on gold-colored fabric background with a brocade edge. Gold-colored fringe on bottom edge. Lined with beige linen fabric, with red silk and beige canvas on the edges. This gremiale was used by Archbishop John Baptiste Lamy when ordaining priests at the 1852 Baltimore Council.
