Description
Handcrafted armed oak rocking chair, curved seat, vertical back slat. This chair was bought by Mother Bridget Hayden, SL, for Fr. John Schoemakers, SJ (pioneer to Osage Mission), in his advanced years when he served as chaplain at St. Ann’s Academy, St. Paul, KS, the successor of Osage Mission. Sisters of Loretto served at Osage Mission from 1847 through 1895. In 1895, the St. Ann’s Academy building burned and there were insufficient funds to rebuild.
