Pencil inscription on front page, "Sister Mary Athanasius from Father Howlett"; pencil inscription on back page, "Given by Father Howlett to Sister Mary Athanasius to keep in Father Nerinckx house / New Years Day 1928."
Sr. Mary Athanasius Wathen (1844-1942) was the second Sister of Loretto to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, in 1936. For many years she tended Fr. Nerinckx’s cabin and the Motherhouse cemetery.
