Metal incense boat, two hinged lids with knobs, decorated with scrollwork and the abbreviations "SMR" and "IHS." Used by Father Nerinckx. An incense burner is a vessel used to hold spices that send up smoke and fragrance when burned. Incense is formed when special spices are burned, representing prayers offered to God.
