Description

Ink on bark cloth drawing, double mat, brown and black, of African animals and trees, signed by Lilanga. George Lilanga was a Tanzanian artist of great fame. His work is known as an example of contemporary African art and of East African Makondo art. His early work is very colorful but later in life after losing his legs to complications with diabetes he did mostly line drawings on bark. Many of his followers completed his works. Sr. Agnes Mary Schum, SL, brought this back from Kenya during her time in the Third World Program.
